One of the largest advertising segments in the world is motorsport, and Latvia is not an exception. We can see, that situation in local motorsport events is increasing rapidly and probably the most popular ones in Y2K will be Formula 1 on water Latvia Grand Prix, that took place in Riga, as well as International Rally "Kurzeme 2000" (http://www.liepaja.lv/rallykurzeme) that was held in Liepaja on the 14th and 15th July (next year this rally will be included in European rally championship!).
Car racing has shown its ability to gather a lot of people during the latest contests - approximate number of spectators is 5 000 to 25 000 people, plus auditorium of TV and radio programs as well as newspapers and specialised magazines - and that means a really big number of people from specific segment - mostly male 25+ years old with medium or high income.
Expenses of participation in one rally event in Latvia are approximately 300 - 1000+ Lats (approximately 500USD to 2000+), that include licences, entry fees, fuel, lubricants, tyres and other spare parts and support team bonuses.
I am strongly concerned that these amounts of money spent on rally crew sponsorship are much more useful than a couple of minutes of advertising purchased on TV or radio (remember the scheme of rally sponsorship - company spends only 10% of money spent on advertising in sports event!). Plus - every person that have seen your advertisement on rally car will find your brand name as successive because you are able to be into rally!
